What would be the "best" or most appropriate set of armor at this point for me? I’ve just reached high rank in Moga Village, but I need some recommendations for armor and weapons that will help. It’s really hard to get a combination of the core skills like focus, crit draw, attack, sharpness or razor sharp so you kinda have to settle for what is most important to you. Assuming you are mid/late g-rank or doing high level GQs, do not get artillery unless there is literally no other damage skill you can take, the same applies to load up. MH4U is my first monster hunter game, so I may be totally wrong on a lot of this. High rank has separate armor that features higher defense and skills, effectively replacing low rank armor. Something about the way the design balances out the monster parts with the steel bits really activates that primal part of my brain that's always looking for pretty things. It doesn't have Sharpness +1, but the G Rank Barroth armor is pretty great for guard lancing. The set (at least 4 pieces) has protective polish and speed sharpening since the glaive loses sharpness really fast. It conveniently has enough slots to gem either AuM to AuL, or Evade+1 into Evade+2 white getting rid of Cold Surge. Any help would be appreciated. It gives AuM, and Evade+1 to help you mitigate some damage by making it easier to dodge through attacks. Defender weapon is very op. Behemoth is an awful fight with heavy RNG, you'll need the bump Rath Soul is one of the most highly recommended high rank armour sets, and people often use it into G Rank. Obituary/Butterfly have the same stats, but are separated by gender. Speaking as someone who made a lot of low-rank armor sets, including Rathalos armor and Lagiacrus armor, I'm here to tell you that low-rank armor is really not worth making. You would contously stab the monster in the head forcing a flinch and back hop and start again. As for armor, in high rank it doesn’t matter too much. Low narga blademaster gives you 12 points in evasion so i don't really see how you can free a slot with one more point because you still need 2 slots. The great hornflies start to appear in high rank everwoods. Tbh, I just finished mh3u and I was a sns main in there, and I just started my mh4u journey with cb (finished low rank), I am still in the tryout phase, u can suggest me for both the builds since I will try it out. The armor isn't that hard to make you just have to fight him a minimum of 6 times and break his horn each time. I'm a greatsword user as well, and for High Rank I didn't spend too much time farming for armor since High Rank goes by pretty fast and most of the armors are outclassed by G Rank armor (except for the few cases when you're experimenting with skill sets and the High Rank armor works better for skills). If possible you should get master rank armor instead as even the starting master rank armor set you can craft are way better than high rank gear in terms of defense. I have soloed up to Dire Miralis, and it was much easier than trying to solo 4U's G-rank, the hunts just take a bit longer. Pretty distributed in elemental resist, has sufficient skills for survivability, does not rely on qurios crafting for a good build. So I've dedicated my DB builds to causing all status, all the time. the brachy sns is okay in high rank and it's the best sns in g-rank, so you can go for it if you want but it's worse than element at this stage. Now i am on the 5 stars missions and i want to upgrade my armor and my weapon Right now i am using the Rathalos helm, arms and waist, the Izuchi S chest and the Ingot Greaves (all max upgraded except the Izuchi chest). Of course, for weapons with true raw higher than 140, Sharpness+1 would be better. For high rank the best skills for general blade master are probably Razor Sharp, Attack Up Large, Evade+1 and HGEarplugs, you'll generally get two, maybe three, of these in one set in high rank. G2 is HR9, G3 is HR10. Especially with Wroggi, you get Razor Sharp and Negate Poison, as well as 5 slots for gemming in lots of things (like Speed Sharpening). Very easy to farm. If you get hit a lot during hunts and hate to be stunned, equip armor with the skills "health boost" and "stun resistance" . g. As a low rank Charge Blade currently using rathian set with rathalos armguard for attack up M, health 50+, what would be my next ideal armor set to aim for that comes/enables me to have the skills i need. Low/High Rank Hunting Horn there's no point in trying to minmax LR/HR sets because 1. Late game you start burning through research points and armour spheres quickly so keep on top of them. Late High Rank gives you access to the Rath Soul armor, which is excellent for carrying you into G-Rank. For high rank you can make double gore, it's good for every baldemastwr weapon except GS: High rank gore magala helm, arms and legs, Low rank gore magala chest and waist, gives you sharpness+1 and challenger+2, 2 of the best skills im the game.
